Young’s organization puts the number of homeless people in the world at more than 1 billion, including more than 50,000 in Italy. Organizers also say that more than 70 percent of past participants transformed their lives after playing in the tournament, eschewing drugs and alcohol, taking up stable residences, getting jobs and education, and repairing past relationships.
